One of the most important dance Championships in the World, the Blackpool Dance Festival, will take place from Thursday 27th May to Friday 4th June 2010 at the Empress Ballroom in the Blackpool Winter Gardens.  This is your chance to see the World’s best Latin and Ballroom couples and formation teams compete.

The British Open Adult Latin Formation Dancing Championships is on Friday 4th June 2010.

In 2011 the Festival will run from Thursday 26th May to Friday 3rd June 2011.

2008 Blackpool Dance Festival

The British Open Adult Latin Formation Dancing Championships was held on Friday 28th May 2008 at 8.30pm. The results were as follows:
1. Bremen Grun-Gold Club A Team (Germany) (Trainers Roberto Albanese, Sven Emmrich and Uta Deharde)
2. Beijing Dancing Academy (China) (Trainers L.Zhu, M.Chapman and H.Fan)
3. TCS TK Altenburg Schwarz-Gold 'Salsa Caliente' (Germany) (Trainer Brigit Schaller)
4. Utah Valley University Latin Team (USA) (Trainer Scott Asbell)
5. Encore Latin American Formation Team (England) (Trainer Martin Cutler)
6. XS Latin Team (England) (Trainer Bruce Lait and David Mallabone)
7. Fever Latin Team (England) (Trainer Rachael Holland)
8. Idaho Academy Latin Team (USA) (Trainers Shaun Fisher and Joy Watts)

The top five teams made the final.  Photos from this event can be seen on the DWP website.  Unfortunately, to see the Latin formation team competition, you needed to buy a ticket for the whole day’s events which cost £25.  Under 12s were free.

During the Blackpool Dance Festival a number of exhibitors, including Supadance and DSI have dance clothes, shoes, CDs, DVDs and books for sale at the Winter Gardens.  The Exhibition was free and open from 10.00am to 10.00pm.

For those interested in Latin and ballroom dance costumes, also worth a visit is The Grand Dance Expo at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool, where the ground floor suites are full of designer costumes.  The Expo was free and open from 10.00am to 7.00pm.  There was a free “Kiss” shuttle bus available every 15 minutes from the Winter Gardens main entrance to the Imperial Hotel.
